Videos explaining Smart Tables and their uses:

Similar to smart board

Both are touch screen
Both allow for complete captivating interaction
Both are effective learning tools because of the interaction they provide

Different from Smart Board:

They are more student geared because student gets the interaction with the board instead of teacher like the smart board
Allow for children to work in groups but still put in equal contribution
Good for all types of learners because you see, hear, and touch
Good for hands on learning
Can even be used with children that have disabilities

How does a smart table work:
It is a multi user and multi touch capable that uses DViT (Digital Vision Touch) Technology.
It is touch capable because of the digital camera’s  and software inside the touch screen make it possible to locate the finger , or pointer that  is in contact with the screen.

These digital camera’s are located around the outside of the frame and communicate information back to the digital signal processor that determines exact point of contact

In simpler words, it’s a touch screen table that allows up to 8 children to touch and move things around at once.

What a student would see when working on a smart table:

1.The initial screen the students will see displayed has several bubble letter options for them to choose from. It allows for  them to begin activities without a teacher   having to explain step by step instructions as they would on a regular computer.

     2. One activity available on the smart table have the children drag the right label to the right organ
     3. The math application on the smart table gives the children the opportunity to work together to find the solution to the math problems and work on puzzles together

What a teachers would see when using the smart table:

1.The teachers would see a screen where they can create themed projects that will align with their lessons and customize projects to their liking.

Thinking about the future...

—  What if all pre-K – 8th grade schools were to use smart boards

—  Would build team work and social skills

—  Provide students with hands on opportunities

—  Actively engage all students

—  Good at incorporating all levels even those with disabilities

Mikayln White said: "It's a great way to learn. Sometimes we will be playing and I don't even realize I'm learning.“(Schaidle, 2009, para. 14).

What if your school can't afford a smart table?
