What is a Voice Thread?

It is a tool for having conversations around media such as images, documents, videos, or a combination.

How to use a Voice Thread

• Sign up at www.voicethread.com
• To create your own Voice Thread, click on the create tab and upload any media you would like to share.
• After you have uploaded your media, there is an icon bar at the bottom.  Click on the icon you would like to use to comment.  You can use a phone, web camera, microphone, type or upload an audio comment.
•   If you upload a video, you can pause it, rewind it, or fast forward it to the part of the video you would like to comment on or just comment on the video in general.

Doodling

• While you comment on a voice thread, you can “doodle” on the image or video.
• This allows for a more visually detailed comment.

Other features

• You can use more than one identity or avatar on the same account.
• Embed your Voice Thread in any website.
• Export them into widescreen movies.
• Comment moderation can be useful to moderate which comments you want to share.
• Create a Groups for your friends or students to share a forum together.

• Ed.Voice Thread is a place for creating and collaborating on digital stories and documentaries, practicing and documenting language skills, exploring geography and culture, solving math problems, or simply finding and honing student voices.
• Teachers can also use Voice Threads to communicate with parents about their child's work.

• Students can use this technology to communicate with other students around the world.
• Share ideas.
• Work with others on projects.
